How does picking the shoot location work?
This truly depends on the time of year and more so on your own availability. Weekends fill quickly and sometimes are booking 6+ weeks out. However, if you have weekday availability we often can get you in sooner. Sometimes weekends can be available in as soon as 1-2 weeks. It is best to reach out as early as possible if you have specific date needs.
When you are ready to book, we will collect a non-refundable deposit. This is applied to your session total. Your remaining balance will be due the day of your session. Payments can be made via card, cash, zelle or venmo.
We recommend that you contact us at least 6 weeks prior to your due date. At that time we make sure that there is no travel or other unavailabilty on our side. From there we will collect your deposit and rather than booking a set date, we add you to the calendar for a certain week or two. We then ask you to reach out once baby has been born and you are home and settled. Ideally we will shoot with baby within their first 1-3 weeks.
We have a lifestyle approach to our newborn sessions. Any "props" used are things naturally found or provided by the parents. A newborn posing bean bag is brought to the session to use for the baby. Upon booking and then setting a date, much more information and prep recommendations are sent directly to you.
A majority of our newborn sessions take place in the clients home. Primarily using the nursery, master bedroom and sometimes the living room. If you do not want to use your home for the photos, we can schedule studio time, however availability can be more limited.
Family photos truly are an investment. Often happening once a year or once every other year. Your investment with AB Photo will vary depending on your needs.
For portrait sessions, the standard turn around time is 2-3 weeks. However, if you need your photos urgently, a rush fee can be purchased.
For outdoor locations, we usually begin by asking if there is a certain "setting style" you prefer. Woodsy, City, Park, Lake, Field, etc... From there we can recommend a location while taking into account the season, time of day and more. If you already have a specific location in mind, we can absolutely do that as well. For studio sessions, we will need to book studio time in advance. Be sure to tell us ASAP if you're hoping to be in the studio. Studio fees are charged separately,
Weddings & Events
I believe that every couple has a unique wedding day and therefore need a custom wedding proposal. I'd love to set up a time to chat more with you and your partner to learn what your needs are.
It depends! While I have shot many weddings on my own, a second shooter is always an option to have. Factors such as location, timeline and other unique details that I learn in our initial meet and greet, allow me to give you a professional recommendation for number of shooters.
All wedding day coverage is consecutive. Hours cannot be broken up. However, you can add additional coverage if needed for separate events such as rehearsal dinners and day after brunches.
I take the time to carefully choose and edit the best photos while also being sure to share as much as possible. The average 8 hour wedding receives 1000-1200 final images.
